Experience the elegance and charm of Coppélia in this special adult ballet repertoire workshop inspired by Pierre Lacotte’s celebrated production for the Paris Opera Ballet, offering dancers the opportunity to explore classical repertoire within a welcoming and supportive professional studio environment.

This workshop will take place in the beautiful Ashton Studio at the Royal Ballet & Opera, an inspiring setting that encourages artistic exploration while remaining accessible to adult dancers wishing to deepen their understanding of classical repertoire. Through the study of Swanhilda’s playful Act I variation, dancers will be guided through the distinctive musicality, precision and refined French classical style that make this ballet such a beloved part of the repertoire.

The workshop will begin with a thoughtfully structured ballet barre designed to prepare dancers for the variation. Particular attention will be given to coordination, épaulement, footwork and musical phrasing, allowing dancers to build confidence while developing a greater sense of artistry and technical clarity. Live piano accompaniment will support the musical atmosphere throughout the session, creating an engaging and authentic studio experience.

Following a short break, the session will continue with repertoire study and coaching, gradually introducing sections of Swanhilda’s variation in a clear and supportive way. The choreography will be thoughtfully adapted for adult dancers while preserving the charm, character and stylistic detail of the original work. The aim is to provide dancers with both enjoyment and artistic challenge within an encouraging and structured environment.
